  3. Uniaxial compression test of a 3D graphene ananolattice with 3-by-3-by-3 unit cells.
  4. Uniaxial tension test of a 3D graphene ananolattice with 3-by-3-by-10 unit cells.
  5. Uniaxial compression test of a 3D graphene ananolattice with 3-by-3-by-10 unit cells.
  6. Uniaxial tension test of a graphene ananolattice slab with an edge crack.

Through the simulations, the deformation process can be observed in detail. It can be observed that,

  • Snap-through events of unit cells happens in a discrete manner
  • The sudden relase of deformation energy after snap-through generate elastic waves
  • The order of unit cells undergoing snap-through is random.

Combining with the theoretical model, MD simualtions unveil the mechanisms generating pseudo plasticity and hystersis of the nanolattices with large numbers of unit cells.
